The Russian delegation included Natalia Krasovskaya, Executive Director of the Center for Public Diplomacy, and staff from the Center’s partner Russian House in Ghana. Emmanuel Kwasi Bedzra, Member of Parliament for the Ho West Constituency, welcomed the students on behalf of the country’s leadership. The parliamentarian endorsed the initiatives of the Center and its Russian House, noting that educational cooperation between Russia and Ghana is very important for the future of young people in the Volta Region.
During the meeting, Natalia Krasovskaya introduced the students to engineering disciplines that Ghanaian citizens can study at leading universities in the Consortium of Russian Universities for Cooperation with African Countries. The Director of the partner Russian House answered the students’ questions, explained the selection criteria for educational programs, and shared more details about new projects run by the Center’s representative office in Ghana.
An important part of the visit was a meeting with students in the engineering class of Novosibirsk State Technical University. This international class was established in Avudome this year for ambitious and talented students from the region who aim to enroll at NSTU. The Russian specialists discussed studies and an upcoming Olympiad with the students, and also launched a series of lectures about Russia, which will be delivered to young Ghanaians by student volunteers from the Center’s youth wing.
The Center for Public Diplomacy’s work in the Volta Region is not limited to educational projects for young people. By developing professional development programs for local teachers, the Center is building a truly comprehensive, sustainable, and long-term system of educational partnership.
